Felony Cases

I have defended numerous felony cases over the past 16 years. Having aggressive and thorough representation in felony matters is critical. Do not wait until it is too late. A defense must be developed through dedication and hard work. The prosecutor has access to extensive resources including detectives, patrol officers, crime labs, and forensic experts. Hiring an attorney is the most important step you can take to protect your rights. Never delay in contacting an attorney if you believe that criminal charges have been or are going to be filed against you. There are several stages early on in a case that cannot be overlooked.

Because the stakes are so high, a painstaking and through review of the evidence is crucial in building a solid defense in any felony case. This often includes reviewing police reports, witness statements, forensic evidence and other key items. Sometimes, it may be necessary to hire your own personal investigator in order to get a second look at the evidence. This thorough review of the evidence prepares the attorney for every contingency his client may face during plea discussions or trial. There is no substitution for being prepared and a solid defense is always built upon hard work. Preparation allows the defense attorney to negotiate from a position of power not weakness. Again, there is no substitution for hard work in preparing a defense strategy. I have found that the harder I work the better results my client’s achieve. An example of a notable felony case

Felony aggravated assault charge amended to simple assault. My client was charged with Felony Aggravated Assault after she struck the victim in the head with a multi-purpose tool. The whole incident was captured on video tape. After striking the victim, she fell to the ground and suffered a concussion. The defendant had sent a text message the victim a day prior threatening to kick her ass. This incident happened in Manchester, Coffee County, Tennessee. A plea agreement was reached where my client avoided a felony conviction and jail time. After completing probation, she will be eligible to have her record expunged. Case number 09-008.
