If you where arrested in Tennessee for a DUI and submitted to a blood test, your blood test results will not be immediately available. Once you gave your blood sample at either the police station or hospital, the vials were then shipped off to the T.B.I. lab. The local hospital does not usually process the sample. Usually, it takes the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's lab 4 to 6 weeks in order to process the blood sample for a blood alcohol content level. Why does it take so long? I don't know and can only speculate that the lab is overwhelmed with many such specimens.
The process can be further lengthen and complicated if drugs (either legal or illegal) are part of the equation. Look for a future blog on this issue. If I can be of any assistance in your Tennessee DUI case, give me a call 615-345-1988.
